Australia Day is always lots of fun. All over Australia, people come together in their local towns - from the outback to the city - and enjoy a day of getting together to celebrate being Australians. Events are organised all over the country. It’s a day of celebration and a time to reflect on where we have come from and where we’re headed in the future. Australia is a wonderfully diverse community of many folks from all over the world - making Australia’s society one of the most diverse in the world. On today’s show - Duncan catches up with some locals at the Holroyd City Council Australia Day Festival in Merrylands Park Sydney and talks about the meaning of Australia Day and what is the essence of our rich and diverse community. The day of family activities was a great reel of events for a day out and great entertainment. In the evening, the fabulous Wendy Matthews took to the stage with her band and belted out some soulful tracks from her big repertoire of Australian hit classics - playing some of her most famous and loved tunes including: I Don’t Want To Be With Anyone But You, Woman’s Gotta Have It, The Day You Went Away, Beautiful View & Back To My Roots. The show was fantatastic. The day’s celebrations were finished off with a magnificent fireworks display. Happy Australia Day to all our listeners.
