“That” HEY HEY Reunion Skit
OK, Newsrooms across Australia, enough about that HEY HEY skit. Newsrooms around the World, Enough! The original skit these Medicine students did on HEY HEY recorded 20 years ago was done with their “Michael Jackson” character, in a black face. For the reunion show, the same skit had Michael in his most recent & lighter skin tone. 80% of Australian’s are clueless to the history & damaging messages sent out by Black Minstrel shows that started in the USA in the 1830’s - so they didn’t see the HEY HEY skit as racist. They saw Michael Jackson in a funny tribute skit. Move On! The intellects of Australia are embarrassed enough already. Harry Connick Jnr. created drama ‘and’ awareness.
