Awakening Of The Heart (CD)
By Turiya Hanover
The heart is the place where we hold our hurts and wounds. Generally, we spend an enormous amount of time protecting ourselves from such painful memories. Yet, in the depths of our hearts, there is a deep understanding that at times we actually need these painful experiences in order to mature and reach our full potential. By listening to this guided meditation, you will have the possibility to release from old burdens - allowing the feelings and emotions associated with them to flow, enhancing personal growth. This meditation supports you as you soften and become vulnerable to what you hold in your own heart. Closed doors can open again, and healing can happen.

“Awakening of the Heart Meditation, 22 mins.
Let yourself arrive in a space where you have all the time for yourself. Close the doors, sit or lie down, whatever’s more comfortable. Make sure your clothes are loose and easy-fitting so that you can breathe easily and be calm. Find a position where you can relax and at the same time be very awake and alert, now allowing yourself to sink deeper and deeper into the floor with every in and out breath. The more relaxed and lighter you get, the more awake and alert you are, ready to dive into the depth of your body and heart. With every in and out breath, the relaxation can become deeper and deeper and, at the same time, becoming wider and more spacious inside, just like the open sky with many clouds drifting, and you can watch your thoughts passing and drifting in the same way, thoughts in all shades and colors, some so far away and some so close and intimate.
Allowing yourself to sink deeper into the space of your body, maybe you can feel your belly filled with warmth from the inside and how it feels like being at home, soft and gentle, full of protective energies. And deep inside you, something is very, very awake, full of light and being, something that we will call consciousness. A child’s, like a candle in the darkness. This mindfulness can bring you slowly inside. And just like the river that is pulled to the ocean without any choice, so you can be pulled into the innermost core of your heart. In the middle of your chest, you can feel the emotional heart, a space that can transform anything. It can change hate and anger to love; it can transform bitterness and resentment into compassion. Maybe you could feel the space of your heart in your body. Maybe it’s as wide and vast as the desert, and maybe it is very tight and constricted, but right now you need to let yourself be with what is.
Right now in this moment, you let yourself be carried by the sounds of the music, and the voice and thoughts might start to dissolve. Feelings come and go. You might even sense the rhythm of your heart; feeling it is just like the rhythm of your life. Right now in this moment, present with what is right now and here, and whatever you feel in your heart, let yourself acknowledge it, accept it as it is, without having to change it. You might feel an endless vastness that makes you feel very alone and lost, or maybe the presence of another person that you love deeply. Or you might feel some fear or anxiety. Maybe pain or some joy. Whatever you need, let it in and accept it. There are only thoughts and feelings that you can always let go of again. There is no right or wrong; there is only you with what is here in this moment. There’s nothing to change, nothing to improve.
Let yourself be wrapped into a soft blanket of friendliness, awareness, and love. You might feel the wounds and hurts of your past, memories of harsh words that might have hurt you. Wounds of abandonment, misunderstandings, and rejections that are alive and still haven’t as yet fully healed, that are still simmering inside. Just very, very gently allow these wounds to uncover and be here. Very, very gently. And look in which way you have built layers of protection around these wounds. Layers — maybe of anger, maybe of resentment, maybe coldness or bitterness. Layers of I-don’t-care and resignation in order to not ever get hurt again. Feel how painful it is to cut yourself out of life, to be so busy with protection that nothing can really deeply touch you anymore. Maybe it is an inner feeling of intense longing for love, and, at the same time, you are afraid of it. The feeling, you long for it, yet you don’t know how to receive and let it in. And with it can come a layer of deep inner isolation, a feeling of loneliness and seclusion. And you know that somewhere inside, you have closed the door to your heart. Maybe a long time ago, maybe just yesterday. This time, see if you can meet these layers of protection with friendliness and with acceptance. Welcome them.
You probably have been criticizing yourself so much for it, fighting it, maybe even denying it. So just for one moment, accept it. Let yourself be, embrace them for a while in an atmosphere of tenderness and gentleness. Let yourself feel how all these layers want to protect and envelop you, in order to save you from further pain. Underneath all of this, maybe you can sense, in the innermost place of your heart, there is an incredible sensitivity, an overwhelming vulnerability, and in it, an amazing strength and force. Just give yourself some space to feel that sensitivity, that fragile place, with acceptance, just by being there with awareness, friendliness, and love. To meet these wounds of your past just like you would meet a child that is very, very hurt. You can embrace these old hurts with kindness and gentleness. Take your time and be very, very gentle and slow with yourself. No judgments, just a precious place to be in, and let this river of compassion run through your entire system, through every cell of your body, so that this river can find its way home to the innermost core of your heart, where your heart’s precious song is waiting for you — love, the most shining treasure within.
And in the depth of your heart, there might be even a place of deep understanding where you can recognize that these hurts and wounds were necessary in order to make certain experiences so that you could mature and grow and expand. Just like difficult times might have helped you to discover the secret of your innermost being, to discover the essence of your heart, to see that this pain is maybe part of your awakening, part of your journey into consciousness and mindfulness, part of your essence. And as you discover the learning in this experience, it might be easier to let the dark memories go. And just like a wanderer between two worlds who always has to move on, you can see that in every tear there is joy, hidden in the depth of your pain. There is the door to the depth of your soul and your heart - the door to love. And if you dare to open that door, there might be love awaiting you, or maybe life’s joy.
And what has been hidden under the earth for a long winter and held in immobility will be melted by the warm spring sun, so that the river of your life can flow again in a lively way, full of acceptance and compassion and courage to face life’s challenges. And if you can trust this inner space, then you can discover the secret of your heart that is only awakening inside you, that will only show itself to you if you trust enough and listen to that small voice inside your heart. You might have refused life’s opening again and again in order to not have to feel the pain. Now, it is enough. Your trust will open all the doors. You let this feeling expand all over your body and heal what is ready to be healed, and open what longs to open, and trust the flow of the river of your heart.
With every moment the trusting becomes stronger, like an inner smile that warms is an inner kindness that carries you and lets you return into this room, feeling your legs and arms, full of awareness and friendliness towards yourself, knowing that only you can uncover the secret of your heart if you dare to open this door again and again.
With love and gratitude,
